First, Vietnamese people are famous for being simple, which ARE reflected in the way of greeting, they often greet each other by smiling and then bowing instead of kissing lightly on the cheek like Americans do. To show respect, I greet the older people by crossing my arms and bowing. I greet the younger ones by nodding and smiling. Regarding friends, I usually WAVE my hand to say hello. I rarely shake hands. I like handshakes because it makes me feel comfortable.
